Alright, whoa! I did the ACT Test for the first time recently and man, I had a bad case of nerves, I don’t know why? I have God on my side and I know I can do the test again; I just got nervous, I was also pretty sick during the ACT Test, but I'm cleared up now. I learned that I have to really cram when it comes to studying even during the summer, but I’ll survive. I learned one thing along time ago by my dad that it is all in your attitude and between farming, studying, drawing (which I LOVE to do), playing Halo 3 and writing our Blog, I try to keep a good attitude. The garden looks beautiful and I am not really the picture girl so I’ll have bluebird do it for you guys, you know older sister persuasion, *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge.* Anyway, our our tomatoes are green, but I harvested our first red one yesterday, yeah! We are also pulling up our horseradishes and harvesting their roots, after a couple years in the ground we got some big roots. We are also still harvesting carrots and rhubarb, our rhubarb needs to be divided seeings they are to close together. People have been telling me that they have had a hard time growing rhubarb, but we don't seem to be having any problems and we have been selling a lot of it. Hot as always, I don’t know if I already told you this but I couldn’t stand the heat and being home schooled I really don’t see summer as a huge thing only the fact that there are now kids around my age running around the streets which I love and I have a lot more free time. This summer changed for me because of my attitude, I don’t see it as just the sun and work anymore, although I still mutter about it once in a while, OK maybe a lot. I see Fourth of July, freedom, harvest, and the things that come with summer, like the fireflies. Am I the only one who notices these guys sleeping on all the plants by day and making the loveliest light shows at dusk. Some firefly facts: Synchronous fireflies (synchronized flashing) are one of 14 species of fireflies that live in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. They are the only species in America whose individuals can synchronize their flashing light patterns, the only other place in the world with synchronized fireflies is Southeast Asia. Also, almost 100% of a firefly's light is given off as light, whereas an electric light bulb gives off only 10% of it's energy as light and the other 90% is given off as heat. Yes, that makes this place twice as special, it's like God is using these guys to smile right at us, it only happens for a couple of weeks in June. Anyway, I hope you are enjoying your summer (Summer Solstice - June 21st) and keep your chin up and enjoy the show the fireflies are giving you. Well- I hope you like this blog as well, bye. -Heritage
