Tis the holiday season for hugs and kisses and sniffles and stress, belly laughs and tummy aches so I am bringing to you a list of home remedied that won’t cost what the holiday gifts did.
Honey and Lemon Juice for a Sore Throat Lemon dries up congestion and honey provides a soothing coating. In fact, a recent study found that a spoonful of honey eased coughs even better than cough medicine. Mix together a tablespoon of each, microwave for 20 seconds until warm (not hot), and drink slowly. Caution: Honey is not safe for babies under 1 year.
Chamomile Tea for sleeplessness Peter Rabbit's mother fed him soothing chamomile tea in Beatrix Potter's classic tale, and you can give it to your infant to relax her intestinal muscles and calm her down. And drink a warm cup yourself and reap the same benefits.
Cayenne Pepper for Nosebleeds This spice helps blood clot, and it has been used medicinally in cultures around the world. Keep your head upright and pinch nostrils together for several minutes. Then sprinkle a pinch of ground cayenne pepper on a moistened cotton swab and dab inside the nose on the area of the bleeding. Yoga for Back ache
Uttanasana Start in a standing position, legs together, hands on hips keep the toes pointing forward and root your feet deep into the earth lengthen your whole body upward through the torso and top of the head keep your shoulders back and square. Stretch your arms over your head then move your hands to the legs, feet or the floor.
Supta Padangusthasana Lie on your back and inhale, spreading your arms on either side of your body. Exhale and move the right leg up. Inhale and hold the right toe with the left hand. This back exercise provides a powerful transverse twist to the spine and prevents variety of spinal disorders. It also aids in toning and strengthening spinal nerves.
Kandharasana Lie on your back and place your palms besides your hips, flat on the ground. Bring your feet closer to the hips. Inhale and exhale with raising and lowering your hips. Repeat the exercise for about 10-15 times daily and you will definitely find a difference in lower backache. This yoga exercise helps to improve spinal activity, power neck and build stamina.
Paschimottanasana Sit up straight, with legs extended out and weight placed on your hips. Inhale and raise your arms overhead. While exhaling, bend forward and bring your arms down, too. Grasp your legs wherever you can - thighs, knees, ankles or feet - depending on how flexible you are. Now, look down. Dradhasana Lie on your right side and fold your right arm. Align your body so that your leg, arm and body are in one straight line. Close your eyes and relax with normal breathing. Repeat same with the left side of your body. This pose helps to attain inner balance and is known to be the best healing pose for backaches.
A Bandanna for Headaches Wrapping several ice cubes in a dish towel will help soothe your head pain (never place ice directly on his skin because it'll burn), but it'll be hard to hold it in place for long. To keep the towel-wrapped ice from slipping, press it against his forehead or temples and secure it with a bandanna tied at the back of the neck.
A Sock for Tummy or Neck Pain Instead of buying a heat wrap, make one by filling a sock with uncooked rice and tying it closed with a string. Microwave the sock for one minute or until warm, and place it wherever you have pain. When it cools off, microwave it again.

After it has cooled, drink it.
Cucumber for Mild Swelling If you go to a fancy spa, the facialist may use this salad staple to ease the puffiness around your eyes. That's because cool cucumber slices help soothe hot, swollen skin. You can place a slice anywhere you have minor swelling, and then simply replace it with another slice from the fridge after it becomes warm.
Remedies for acid indigestion To prevent acid indigestion put some lemon juice or cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it before the meal. You can also drink a cup of mint tea after a large meal. Mint is known to aid digestion. Or chew some gum when you have a very full stomach after a big meal. The extra saliva produced will neutralize the problematic excess stomach acid.
